Report on the Activities of the Cultural Support Project, "Creator's Bonding by ThreeBond 2012"

ThreeBond Co., Ltd. has launched the cultural support project, "Creator's Bonding by ThreeBond 2012" with the aim of bonding and linking creators, people, companies, and cultures all over the world. As part of this project, we have supported the activities of Mr. Yasushi Matsumoto, a creator. He exhibited his work, "SOTTOSOPRA - Fusion of interior and image in the dim light," at the world's largest design festival, Milano Salone, which was held in Milan, Italy from April 17 to 22.

Mr. Matsumoto's work, which uses the camera obscura to express interior space with an innovative technique, was highly praised by designers and artists from all over the world. He received several inquiries from art galleries that wanted to handle his work, as well as some offers to exhibit it at art festivals. In reflection of his wishes, it will be donated to Reggio Children, a large children's facility in Reggio Emilia, northern Italy, and exhibited there permanently. Reggio Emilia is famous for its "Reggio Emilia approach," which focuses on and allocates a large amount of the city budget to early childhood education.

ThreeBond Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of industrial adhesives and sealants which are essential to Monozukuri (manufacturing), such as that of automobiles and electric equipment, has been proactively committed to activities that have a challenging spirit and contribute to society under one of our founding principles, "To serve mankind and society through work."

We plan to launch our new cultural support project, "Creator's Bonding by ThreeBond 2012."

This project aims to nurture young people with diversified sensibilities and ideas and lead them to innovative Monozukuri through our various support activities that "bond and link together" creators, people, companies, and cultures around the world.

This year, we are supporting Mr. Yasushi Matsumoto, a creator, who will challenge himself with new techniques to express interior space using the camera optical mechanism in "Milano Salone," the world's largest design festival, which will be held in Italy in April, 2012.

Support Nissan Technical School & KONDO RACING, "Project to Nurture Automobile Lovers"

ThreeBond Co., Ltd. supports the "Project to Nurture Automobile Lovers" (Student education plan) in which KONDO RACING and Nissan Technical School collaborate to participate in the Super Taikyu, in the aim of nurturing young people who love automobiles and promoting automobile-related industries.

In this project, students of Nissan Technical School and KONDO RACING work together, particularly in maintaining the vehicle and operating the team, to participate in the S-Tai Series with the GT-R (GT3 racing model car) that will debut in the spring of 2012.

It is an ongoing project in which students can participate as part of the school program, learn real-life maintenance engineering techniques and strong ties and teamwork between staffs, and grow to be "real automobile enthusiasts" through an impressive experience.

In 2012, they will take part in five of the six Super Taikyu Series races, Round 2 through Round 6.

Notice on "Completion of R&D Center"

We at ThreeBond Co., Ltd. are happy to inform you of the completion of our research center which has been under construction in Sagamihara-shi, Kanagawa for the purpose of consolidating research and development resources which has been located in various places in Japan, achieving still greater efficiency, and meeting requirements for globalization. With the completion of the new research center, we consolidate research and development functions which were located in Hachioji-shi in Tokyo, Okayama, and Saitama to this new research center and aim at meeting customers' needs more quickly.

The new research center is slated to be inaugurated in June.

Three Bond racing British F3 series is entered

ThreeBond has been participating in the Japanese F3 Championship as "ThreeBond Racing" since 2000, and won the Team Champion title last year, its 12th year in the series.

To further step up performance in 2012, ThreeBond will participate in the British F3, right up there at the top with the F3 Euro as the most prominent racing series.

ThreeBond will join forces with local British team T-Sport this year, with Australian driver Nicholas McBride (20) as driver.

Legal action compelled by infringement of our patent for light-curing instant adhesives (28th July, 2011)

On July 22, 2011, ThreeBond Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "we") filed a lawsuit in Tokyo District Court against Miyake Applied Science Institute, Inc. and Prof Precision Co., Ltd. in the matter of light-curing instant adhesives manufactured and sold by these companies. We took legal action to force the cessation of infringement by these parties of our patent No.3428325 and for payment of damages. Before taking legal action, we had attempted to settle the issue through discussions with the two companies. Unfortunately, we failed to reach agreement, compelling us to take legal action.

We are the world's first manufacturer to develop light-curing instant adhesives. We hold patents on these adhesives, including Patent No.3428325. We regard our patents and other intellectual property rights as important management resources, which we draw on in the most effective ways possible to continue to provide products and services that meet customer needs.

We reserve the right to take necessary legal action against any parties to protect our rights and resources.

The Impact of Tohoku Kanto Earthquake and Tsunami (25th March, 2011)

ThreeBond doesn't have any damage of our Plant and logistic building, any missing persons and any killed and injured due to Tohoku Kanto Earthquake and Tsunami. Our plants and logistic center are in Kanagawa and Saitama, not in Tohoku area. Now we try to recover the stabilization, though it is affected to save the raw material, manpower and logistics method.
We would like to report the current situation on production and distribution below.

Our main plants in Kanagawa and Okayama have been operating now. But the effect of the plan of rolling blackouts is concerned.
We are making sure about the continuing supply of raw materials to each supplier, but according to the damaged condition of Petrochemical complexes, it might effect across all over chemical raw materials. So we are now gathering information including overseas.

[Logistic]
Road condition through devastated area is getting better and we are shipping according to the situation. But it is also expected that supply to the area other than afflicted area may also be delayed due to the shortage of gas/truck and the plan of rolling blackouts.

Our plants and logistic center are in Kanagawa and Saitama, not in Tohoku area. Now we try to recover the stabilization, though it is affected to save the raw material, manpower and logistics method.
We would like to report the current situation on production and distribution below.

[ Our Plants ]
Our main plants in Kanagawa and Okayama have no effect by the Tohoku Kanto Earthquake and Tsunami. We can continue to make production. There is sufficient stock of major raw materials in the warehouse to meet the immediate production needs. We are currently gathering information from our raw material suppliers on the impact of this disaster to their supply and distribution.
However as you may know, Japan is implementing the plan of rolling blackouts after 15th March based on area and time. It may affect production and logistic schedule accordingly.

[ Logistic ]
The logistic from our stock center in Saitama to ports/airports is still busy. Though now it does not cause the huge disruptions, the logistic delay will be occurred by the plan of rolling blackouts.

ThreeBond group donated JPY 2,000,000 (about US$ 21,500) to the Japanese Red Cross Society for reconstruction and relief aid to the survivors of the recent Yushu earthquake located in Qinghai, China.

Also ThreeBond group has decided to donate JPY 3,000,000 (about US$ 32,300) to the Red Cross Society of China to support reconstruction efforts for the victims of the earthquake in Yushu Qinghai and the severe drought in Yunnan.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who perished and to the survivors of the earthquake and drought. We hope for a speedy reconstruction of their economic and social life.
