About
SUPER FORMULA
Formula cars are single-seater vehicles designed exclusively for racing, characterized by their exposed tires.
While the world championship for these formula cars is the famous “F1,” the “All Japan Super Formula Championship” in which ThreeBond competes is Asia’s premier formula car race, boasting speeds second only to F1.
All teams use identical chassis and tires, and the championship operates under “equal conditions,” with engines either Toyota or Honda units manufactured to specified regulations. Victory hinges on limited adjustments within the vehicle regulations, driver skill, and team strategy.
Additionally, the cars feature an “overtake system” that temporarily boosts engine output for a limited time, enabling battles at speeds exceeding 300 km/h (186 mph).
Environmental considerations are also prioritized: natural hemp-derived materials are used in the car bodies, and “carbon-neutral tires” made with recycled materials and renewable resources are employed.
Starting in 2026, fuel will also be switched to gasoline blended with domestically produced biomass ethanol.
This year marks our fourth season competing as ThreeBond Racing.
We will field driver Syun Koide, who made his Super Formula debut last season and demonstrated speed in both qualifying and races.
We also retain Koudai Tsukakoshi as team manager. An active SUPER GT driver, he will support the driver with advice based on his extensive experience.
For the crucial role of track engineer, responsible for race car setup, we welcome Toshiomi Oeki, who brings extensive engineering experience from various teams.
With this new structure, we aim to make a leap forward into the top ranks.
